“Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents” - Jeremiah 2:34
For more than 30 years, I have fought abortion. In 1986, God allowed me to pioneer the Abortion Malpractice Effort. “Abortion may be legal but malpractice is not!” Abortion has two victims: one dead, one wounded.
In 1986 we went on the offensive. Today, hundreds of women have sued abortion clinics for malpractice. The number of abortion clinics in this country has dropped from 2,176 in 1986 to fewer than 450 at the end of 2021. But at the same time, every baby that could have been aborted in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade decision can still be aborted in 2022. The only difference is today’s methods are more barbaric.
It is time to ask, Why have we, as God’s people, made so little progress against the greatest moral injustice in the history of mankind. I would offer three reasons.
1. There is little prayer—public or private. In most churches, if public prayer is made at all from the pulpit, it is once a year on Sanctity of Life Sunday. And furthermore, congregations are not encouraged nor exhorted to spend time in earnest, private prayer. “Ye have not, because ye ask not” -James 4:2.
2. There is little knowledge of God’s law. “They that forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them” -Prov. 28:4. We are unfit to contend with the “Goliath of Abortion” when not even 1% of Christians who regularly attend church can name all ten of the Ten Commandments.
3. As God’s people, we have yet to repent of our own abortions. I am talking about deacons taking their daughters to abortion clinics.
I am also talking about the widespread use of IUDs and birth control pills among Christian married couples. Both contraceptive devices work at least part of the time by aborting a newly conceived baby at a week to two weeks after conception.
On April 26, 1989 the U.S. Supreme Court heard the Webster Case. The State of Missouri had passed a law that said in part, “Life begins at conception.” Frank Sussman, the attorney for the abortion industry, said if Missouri were allowed to have a law that said, that life begins at conception, then the Court would have to deal with certain forms of birth control. He went on to say: “The most common forms…of contraception today—IUD’s, low-dose birth control pills, which are the safest type of birth control pills available—act as abortifacients. They are correctly labeled as both.”
No reputable medical authority will dispute his statement! How is it then that an ungodly attorney for the abortion industry knows this information, and the church of Jesus Christ, which is supposed to have “the manifold wisdom of God” doesn’t seem to know it?
How did we come to this place of sacrificing our children to the gods of this world? First, we made the assumption that God’s commandment, “Be fruitful, and multiply,” simply does not apply to our generation. Second, we no longer saw children as the Lord’s blessing as stated in Psalms 127 and 128 and elsewhere. We seem to have forgotten that “the just shall live by faith;” and further forgotten that we are commanded to “Present your bodies a living sacrifice… which is your reasonable service.”
Up until 1930, every Christian denomination declared birth control to be sin. Today, a Christian couple going to the pastor of the typical Bible-preaching church will receive the same counsel about family size and birth control methods (with the exception of abortion) as they would if they had gone to the local director of Planned Parenthood.
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, he saw the people dancing around the Golden Calf and said to Aaron, “What did this people unto thee that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?” And Aaron said… “Thou knowest the people that they are set on mischief.” Similarly, pastors think that the people before them in their congregation have their hearts set on birth control. They do not! Certainly, there are some few who do and will defend their right to practice birth control with the same vehemence that the godless defend abortion. Abortionists see abortion as the most fundamental right in our Constitution and in the eyes of some worldly, carnal Christians; birth control is THE most fundamental Christian liberty.
It is estimated that abortifacient birth control methods in the United States account for more than 13 million abortions a year. Ten times more than all the surgical abortions per year!!! My friends, you and I are among the watchmen God has placed on the wall in Ezekiel 3:17–21. If we will not cry out and sound a warning to the flock, their blood, and the blood of the little children that they will spill, will be on our hands in the Judgment.
I know that many of you have never heard or even imagined the information that I have just given. I would simply ask you to be like the Bereans; see if these things are so; if they are, obey God. There is a well researched, free, downloadable book at www.epm.org/bcp.html, Do Birth Control Pills Cause Abortions? by author and former pastor Randy Alcorn.
“Say It Isn’t So”
One afternoon I was visiting with a Christian doctor and his wife in the doctor’s office. For years the doctor (I’ll call his name Terry) and his wife had fought abortion. I brought up the subject of birth control pills because the doctor had just met with a pharmaceutical saleswoman, and I heard her make a pitch to him about birth control pills. I made the statement that unless God’s people addressed the fact that birth control pills cause abortions at a week to two weeks after conception, we were never going to see an end to legalized abortion.
The room went silent. When it became apparent that Terry wasn’t going to challenge this statement, his wife leaned forward in her chair. She looked straight at her husband and pleadingly said, “Say it isn’t so, Terry.” The implications of her request flooded the room.
The doctor sat in his chair, dropped his eyes slightly to avoid his wife’s gaze, and gave no answer. The doctor’s wife leaned further forward so she could look into her husband’s eyes again and still more earnestly said, “Terry… say it isn’t so.” The doctor dropped his head and looked down at his desktop. She waited. Finally, he spoke… “It’s so.”
The following is a quotation from the Physicians’ Desk Reference 2008, Clinical Pharmacology, page 2411: “Combination oral contraceptives act by suppression of gonadotropins.
“Although the primary mechanism of this action is inhibition of ovulation, other alterations include changes in the cervical mucus (which increase the difficulty of sperm entry into the uterus) and the endometrium (which reduce the likelihood of implantation).”
There are many brands of birth control pills. All of them have formulations of synthetic hormones that act to shrink the lining of the womb 60–90%. Since life begins at conception in the fallopian tubes, the action of “the Pill” to “reduce the likelihood of implantation” makes it an abortifacient. And this information is everywhere — medical and pharmaceutical textbooks, periodicals, and the Internet.
Is There Another Opinion?
The action of “the Pill” to thin the lining of the womb below that which will support life is an established medical fact!
However, there is another opinion! A few unprincipled “Christian,” or so-called “pro-life” doctors and pharmacists will deny the evidence in order to justify prescribing and dispensing these abortifacients. To their shame, most of them don’t even inform conscience-sensitive patients of the possibility that “the Pill” may kill their newly conceived child.
Their argument runs: “No one has shown conclusively that birth control pills cause abortions.” Wait! The burden of proof is not on others to show that “the Pill” causes abortions, but it is for these doctors to bring forth their strong, conclusive proof that it does not!
We are dealing here with the lives of many children and the spiritual well-being and conscience of many mothers and fathers. Before God, and his patients, a doctor, nurse or pharmacist is obliged to err on the side of safety and life. I have a standing offer to debate anyone, including doctors, in a public forum: Resolve: “May Christians Use or Prescribe Birth Control Pills?”
Birth Control: The Unchallenged Sin of the 20th-Century Church
In Matthew 12:36 Jesus said that we will be judged for something as small as our “every idle word.” Why then do we neglect to question something as serious as the practice of birth control? Why is there no discussion?
First, few are willing to “rock the boat.”
Next, church leaders know the practice of birth control has no solid Scripture on which to stand. The Bible is not silent on the subject—it’s very clear! God’s command to “be fruitful” in Genesis 1:28 and “bear children” in 1 Timothy 5:14 excludes our attempts to make ourselves unfruitful—temporarily or permanently. Teaching, by example or precept, that children are a burden or an interruption to our pursuits of happiness is to contradict God Himself.
We have been misled by the devil. We have taken counsel of ourselves, and have let fear not faith guide us. We have traded the children God would have given us in pursuit of the luxuries and comforts of this world. The conception of children only comes about as God acts—“I make alive” -Deuteronomy 32:39. Why then are Christian married couples being taught to be afraid of having “too many children?” “There is no fear in love” -1 John 4:18.
In Conclusion
I know this message touches many people, but it is only by the repentance of God’s people that a land can be healed -II Chronicles 7:14. “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” -Galatians 4:16. Would you like to do something effective to end abortion? Contact us. And as a first step, you can distribute this information.
“When a man who is honestly mistaken learns the truth,
he either ceases to be mistaken or he ceases to be honest.”
Is it reasonable to believe that God will end the shedding of innocent blood by the unsaved while His own people continue their socially polite and secret abortions? This is a message that must be preached. However, it is not a message to the unsaved or worldly Christians. This is a message for those who fear God and long to keep His commandments: Those who want to please God!
From II Chronicles 7:14, we know that it is only by the repentance of God’s people that we can see our land healed and abortion ended.
I know you can imagine how difficult it is to deliver a message where almost all the hearers are guilty, and guilty of the most serious of sins, but would you help?
